Taking part in Eskom Expo offers learners a range of exciting opportunities, including:

  • Gaining research and experimentation skills
  • Networking with fellow young scientists from across the country and beyond
  • Exploring cutting-edge technology and innovation
  • Enhancing presentation and communication skills
  • Earning recognition, prizes, and awards for outstanding research

  • The Top Junior Scientist, awarded R75,000, was Khushi Lall from Tyger Valley College (Northern Gauteng Region), for her project “Garlic: Nature’s Secret to Food Preservation.”
  • Top Development School Award, awarded R75,000, was Lethabo Kgwete from Moleshatlou Secondary School (Capricorn Region), for his project “The Effect Of Livestock Green Compost Tea”.

Other Special Awards included full and partial bursaries, cash prizes, international science fair invitations, laptops, tablet computers, mentorship and incubation support, and Tech Bundles containing laptops, backpacks, headphones, and accessories.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Eskom Expo’s 2026 programme will include:

  • Workshops hosted in all nine provinces

  • District Expos (where learners receive expert feedback to refine their projects)
  • Regional Science Fairs

Dates for all 2026 activities will be announced in due course.
