The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists has officially opened registration for experienced judges to participate in the upcoming Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF), scheduled to take place from Monday, 6 October 2025 to Friday, 10 October 2025 at the Emperors Palace Conference Centre in Kempton Park.
Professionals such as engineers, doctors, veterinarians, teachers, lecturers, researchers, scientists, and IT professionals are being sought. Teachers can earn SACE Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, while scientists registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) can earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. Other professionals can obtain credit through their respective professional bodies.
Judges who wish to be part of this premier event must take note of the following important details:
Judging schedule for ISF 2025:
- Virtual Judging: Between 1 and 19 September 2025, judges will assess projects online at their convenience and submit their completed assessment sheets.
- In-Person Judging: Judges must attend ISF for:
- Pre-judging on Tuesday, 7 October 2025
- Finalist interviews and score finalisation on Wednesday, 8 October 2025
Judges must be available for both the virtual and in-person components of the evaluation process.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Returning judges must have participated in at least one Regional Science Fair in 2025.
- Experienced judges who have never judged at the Eskom Expo ISF, must have either judged at a minimum of three Regional Science Fairs in 2025 or have at least three years of regional judging experience.
- To judge at a Regional Science Fair, volunteers should contact their Provincial Coordinator by 30 June 2025: Contact Your Provincial Coordinator (click here and select your province from the map for details)
Additional Information:
- Accommodation: One night of shared accommodation will be provided for approved judges on Tuesday, 7 October 2025. Further details will be shared in due course.
- Transport: Judges are required to travel to Emperors Palace on their own, as this is a voluntary activity, and Eskom Expo does not cover this cost.
- ISF Provisional Programme: To be released in August 2025, along with updated information, assessment sheets, and category lists.

When registering, ensure you provide:
- A working cell number
- An email address you frequently check
- Your highest academic qualification
- Any professional body registration
- The number of years you’ve judged at Eskom Expo Regional Science Fairs and the Eskom Expo ISF
